Pakistani students are set to receive access to a one-year free subscription to Google Gemini, as part of Google’s efforts to expand access to advanced artificial intelligence tools among students across the country.

According to details, Google has announced plans to offer the one-year free Gemini subscription to students across Pakistan, with an official announcement expected later this week.
Google Vice President Wilson White said the initiative aims to provide Pakistani students with access to advanced AI tools and support their digital skills and learning opportunities.
He added that Google’s objectives are aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of positioning Pakistan as a hub for IT exports and increasing the country’s IT exports to $30 billion.
White further stated that over the past decade, Google has contributed to more than Rs3.9 trillion in economic activity for local businesses and households in Pakistan. He said this economic activity has supported more than 960,000 jobs across the country.

According to the Google executive, these developments mark only the beginning, with further initiatives expected in Pakistan in the coming days.
The announcement comes as Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met a nine-member Google delegation in Islamabad during the inauguration of Google’s new office in Pakistan. The delegation was led by Wilson White, while Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker and other officials were also present.
During the meeting, the prime minister highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing digital transformation across government, the economy, and other sectors. He also briefed the delegation on the government’s “Digital Nation Pakistan” vision.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted ongoing initiatives to improve IT infrastructure and provide young people with training in IT and artificial intelligence. He said collaboration with global technology companies such as Google could play an important role in achieving these objectives.
The prime minister welcomed Google’s decision to establish a permanent office in Pakistan, saying it would further strengthen the partnership between Pakistan and Google.
He also highlighted the potential of Pakistan’s youth in the digital sector and expressed hope that Google would continue expanding its programmes to enhance young people’s skills and empower them with opportunities in technology and AI.
