Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Karachi Azad Khan has responded to questions raised by Police Surgeon Dr Samia Syed regarding the post-mortem report of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali, saying the report was prepared by the concerned Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) and not by the police.

Dr Samia Syed had earlier questioned the findings of the post-mortem report, saying some medical observations did not appear to correspond with photographs of Mir Raza Ali’s body.
Speaking to local media, Azad Khan said Dr Samia had formed her opinion after reviewing photographs and had not personally examined Mir Raza Ali’s body.
He said the post-mortem examination and report were the responsibility of the relevant MLO.
“Post-mortem reports are issued by the Medico-Legal Officer (MLO), not the police,” Azad Khan said.
According to the Karachi police chief, police investigators based their assessment of the case on the MLO’s post-mortem report.
Dr Samia Syed had previously raised concerns about the medical findings after reviewing photographs of Mir Raza Ali’s body.

Questions Post-Mortem Report
She said some parts of the body appeared swollen and discoloured in the photographs and believed those areas required further examination to determine whether injuries were present.
She had also questioned the reported direction of the bullet and pointed to what she described as inconsistencies requiring further investigation.
Dr Samia further said decomposition appeared to be more pronounced around the face and upper part of the body, making a detailed examination important for determining the nature of the injuries.
Azad Khan said the police surgeon should have submitted her observations in writing through the relevant official procedure instead of discussing them with the media.

He maintained that police investigators had relied on the medical report issued by the concerned MLO while conducting their investigation.
The differing views have added another point of contention to an already closely watched investigation into Mir Raza Ali’s death.
Azad Khan said that if Mir Raza Ali’s family wants another examination, the body can be exhumed for a fresh post-mortem.
A second examination could potentially help authorities address questions surrounding the cause and manner of death if the family formally requests it and the relevant authorities approve the procedure.
