The federal government announced an increase of Rs13.18 per litre in the prices of petroleum products, raising the cost of both petrol and high-speed diesel for the next fortnight.
Following the latest revision, the price of petrol has been increased from Rs297.53 per litre to Rs310.53 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has risen from Rs309.50 per litre to Rs322.50 per litre.
The revised prices will come into effect immediately and will remain applicable until the next fortnightly review, expected on Friday.
The government revises petroleum prices every two weeks based on fluctuations in international oil prices and the exchange rate, along with recommendations from the relevant authorities.
The increase is expected to push up transportation costs and add to inflationary pressures, as higher fuel prices often lead to an increase in the prices of essential goods and services.
