The federal government has announced an increase in petroleum product prices for the next fortnight, raising the price of petrol by Rs13.18 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs13.80 per litre.

Following the latest revision, the price of petrol has been increased from Rs297.53 per litre to Rs310.71 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has risen from Rs309.50 per litre to Rs323.30 per litre.

The revised prices will come into effect immediately and will remain applicable until the next fortnightly review, expected on Friday.

The government revises petroleum prices every two weeks based on fluctuations in international oil prices and the exchange rate, along with recommendations from the relevant authorities.

The increase is expected to push up transportation costs and add to inflationary pressures, as higher fuel prices often lead to an increase in the prices of essential goods and services.
