Pakistan has announced a nationwide crackdown on illegal Afghan nationals, setting July 10 as the final deadline for those residing in the country without legal status.

According to the Ministry of Interior, all undocumented Afghan nationals found in Pakistan after the deadline will be taken into custody starting July 10.

The ministry has directed provincial governments and law enforcement agencies to ensure strict implementation of the directive.

Provincial Chief Secretaries, Inspectors General of Police (IGs), and the Islamabad administration have been instructed to enforce the orders across their respective jurisdictions.

Beginning July 11, provincial authorities will be required to submit daily reports to the Ministry of Interior detailing enforcement actions.

According to the directive, the reports must include the number of Afghan nationals found without valid visas, the actions taken against them, and their current legal or custodial status.

The Ministry of Interior has described the matter as being of the highest priority and directed all relevant authorities to ensure immediate and comprehensive implementation of the orders.

Earlier to this, security officials managed to arrest one of the terrorists involved in the attack on the Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi. The suspect was apprehended in an injured condition.

According to the arrested suspect, who identified himself as Usman Ali, he is a member of the India-backed militant group Jamaat ul Ahrar. He said he belongs to Jalalabad in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province.

The suspect claimed that three other militants – Abdul Hadi, Janan, and Umar Farooq – also participated in the attack.

Authorities claim to have uncovered evidence allegedly linking the Afghan Taliban regime to the militant group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar following the attack on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi.

According to officials, the claims emerged during the interrogation of the injured suspect, identified as Usman Ali, who was arrested after the attack.

During questioning, the suspect allegedly identified himself as Usman Ali and claimed he had travelled from Jalalabad, Afghanistan. He further stated that Abdul Hadi, Janan, and Umar Farooq accompanied him during the operation.

According to the interrogation details, the suspect claimed that Abdul Hadi was killed during the attack, while Janan threw the explosive device at the Pakistan Rangers camp.

The suspect further alleged that the group entered Pakistan seven days before the attack with Abdul Hadi, who was originally from Bajaur. He claimed they stayed in an under-construction building and that the weapons used in the attack had been brought from Waziristan by Abdul Hadi.

According to officials, the suspect stated that he was shot while attempting to flee after the attack.

The interrogation report further quoted the suspect as claiming that he belonged to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and that the group’s commander in Afghanistan was known as Ahrar Maulvi Sahib.
