Authorities in Karachi have finalized security, municipal, and emergency response plans for Muharram-ul-Haram, with special focus on the main processions and religious gatherings scheduled on the 8th, 9th, and 10th of Muharram.

The arrangements were reviewed during a high-level meeting held at the Commissioner Karachi Office, jointly chaired by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab and Syed Hassan Naqvi.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the police, district administration, traffic police, municipal institutions, emergency services, and representatives of religious organizations.

During the meeting, participants conducted a detailed review of security and administrative arrangements for major Muharram processions and majalis across the city.

Authorities discussed traffic management, emergency response mechanisms, sanitation plans, and coordination between government departments and procession organizers.

The Additional Inspector General of Police briefed participants on the comprehensive security strategy prepared for Muharram.

Officials said special measures would be implemented to ensure the safety of mourners attending processions and religious gatherings throughout the city.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Murtaza Wahab said foolproof security arrangements would be ensured for all major events during Muharram-ul-Haram.

He stated that deputy commissioners, police authorities, traffic police, and municipal institutions had completed contingency planning to address potential challenges during the holy month.

The mayor said all relevant departments would remain in close coordination with organizers of processions and majalis to ensure smooth conduct of religious activities.

He added that fire brigades, ambulance services, and emergency health units would remain on high alert throughout Muharram to respond quickly to any emergency situation.

Special cleanliness campaigns will also be carried out along procession routes and around Imambargahs. Municipal teams will be deployed to maintain sanitation standards and facilitate mourners attending religious gatherings.

Authorities assured citizens that the best possible municipal, medical, and security services would be provided during Muharram. Traffic management plans and emergency response measures are also expected to be implemented in key areas of the city.

Mayor Wahab emphasized that Muharram-ul-Haram would be observed in Karachi with religious devotion, respect, and a peaceful atmosphere. He also stressed the importance of promoting inter-sect harmony, brotherhood, and religious tolerance during the holy month.

He urged religious scholars, community leaders, and organizers to play an active role in strengthening Muslim unity and encouraging mutual respect among all sections of society.
