Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a temporary suspension of gas supply in several areas of Karachi due to pipeline lowering work near Nipa Flyover for the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
According to the company, the second phase of lowering a 20-inch diameter high-pressure gas pipeline will be carried out on the request of Trans Karachi.

The work will take place during the night between Saturday, May 23, 2026, and Sunday, May 24, 2026.
SSGC stated that the scheduled shutdown will remain effective from 10:00 PM until 5:00 AM. However, due to the technical nature of the operation, repair and maintenance work may continue until 8:00 AM.

During the shutdown, gas supply will remain suspended in several major areas, including all blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Lines Area, PHS Society, Saddar, parts of Kharadar, Lyari, Garden, and surrounding localities.
The utility company also confirmed that major institutions including Liaquat National Hospital, Aga Khan University Hospital, and Karachi Central Prison may face temporary gas suspension during the operation.

In addition, consumers in the SITE Industrial Area may experience low gas pressure during the scheduled maintenance work.
SSGC officials said gas supply will be restored immediately after completion of the technical operation. Consumers will also be informed once the restoration process is completed.
