Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued an important warning for WhatsApp users across the country, advising citizens to ensure their WhatsApp accounts remain linked to active and registered SIM cards to avoid losing access.
According to the advisory, WhatsApp accounts connected to inactive, blocked, deactivated, or unregistered SIMs may soon become inaccessible, potentially putting users’ chats, contacts, and digital identity at risk.

The PTA urged users to immediately verify whether their WhatsApp number is associated with a valid and active SIM. Authorities warned that users could unexpectedly be logged out of their accounts if the linked SIM becomes inactive or remains unverified.
The telecom regulator also advised people using inactive SIMs to migrate their WhatsApp accounts to verified numbers as soon as possible.
