The Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council has predicted that Eidul Adha 2026 in Pakistan is likely to be observed on Wednesday, May 27, based on scientific analysis of moon sighting conditions.
Secretary General Khalid Ijaz Mufti said the council’s report on Dhu al-Hijjah 1447 AH indicates a strong probability of the festival falling on this date.

According to the report, the new moon will be born at 1:15am (Pakistan time) between the night of May 16 and 17, making it visible later that evening.
By sunset on May 17, the moon’s age is expected to exceed 18 hours across most parts of the country, which is generally considered sufficient for visibility to the naked eye.
The council further noted that the gap between sunset and moonset will be around 55 minutes in Karachi and up to 63 minutes in Peshawar, improving chances of sighting.

If weather conditions remain clear, the moon is expected to be visible on Sunday evening, making May 18 the first day of Dhu al-Hijjah and Eidul Adha on May 27.
The report also suggests that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia may observe Eid on the same day this year.
However, if the moon is not sighted due to cloudy conditions, Dhu al-Qi’dah will complete 30 days, and Eidul Adha would then fall on Thursday, May 28.

Officials have reiterated that the final announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after its official meeting.
