Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved two official holidays for Eidul Fitr, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division of Pakistan.
Under the official notification, government offices across Pakistan will observe Eid holidays on March 20 and March 21.
The directive states that all federal government offices operating under both five-day and six-day work schedules will remain closed on Friday and Saturday in observance of the Eid festival.
The decision was formally approved by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif before the Cabinet Division issued the notification confirming the holiday schedule.
Government employees are expected to enjoy an extended break around the festival. Since March 22 falls on Sunday, and March 23 is already a national holiday in Pakistan for Pakistan Day, many public sector workers will benefit from a four-day long weekend from Friday to Monday.
This means government employees will likely have additional time to celebrate the festival with their families and travel during the holiday period.
