Indian cricket star Virat Kohli has described his recent Australia tour as the ‘most intense disappointment’ of his career, comparing it to his struggles during the 2014 England tour when he failed to score a single half-century in 10 innings.
Kohli’s vulnerability outside the off-stump frustrated him throughout the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Despite a century in Perth, he was dismissed eight times by edging deliveries, managing only 190 runs in nine innings at an average of 23.75.
Speaking at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Kohli admitted that the weight of expectations added to his struggles. ‘People start feeling for you more than you feel for yourself. This has to be corrected,’ he said.

He revealed that his desperation to correct his form made things worse.
“Once you start burdening yourself with outside disappointment, you get more desperate. I experienced that in Australia,” he shared.
A conversation with Rahul Dravid helped Kohli regain perspective on knowing the right time to move on is. However, he reassured fans that his love for the game remains strong.
“As long as that love is intact, I will continue to play. Don’t get nervous – I’m not making any announcements,” Kohli joked.
