At least 13 people, including children and women, were killed and several others injured in a serious traffic accident near DHA City on Karachi’s Super Highway, rescue officials confirmed on Friday.
The collision occurred on Shahrah-e-Bhutto road, a major route connecting Hyderabad to Karachi.
According to rescue authorities, multiple vehicles including a passenger bus and oil tanker were involved in the crash. The impact caused severe damage, leading to a high number of casualties. Officials said the death toll may rise as some of the injured are in critical condition.
Rescue teams responded quickly after receiving information about the accident.

Ambulances from different welfare organizations reached the site and shifted the victims to nearby hospitals.
The injured and deceased were transported to Fatima Baqai Hospital, and the Trauma Center at Civil Hospital Karachi.
Rescue officials stated that the identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately.
Efforts are underway to identify the victims and inform their families. Two young girls were among those who lost their lives in the accident, according to initial reports.

Sindh Interior Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for patience and strength for the bereaved families.
He confirmed that rescue teams, including 1122 emergency services, were present at the scene and relief operations were ongoing.
The Interior Minister directed hospital administrations to provide immediate and best possible medical treatment to the injured. He also instructed relevant authorities to speed up rescue efforts and ensure that all necessary facilities are available for victims.
Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori also expressed concern over the tragic incident. He sought an immediate report from Inspector General Sindh Javed Alam Odho and directed that injured passengers receive urgent and quality medical care.
The Governor emphasized that uninterrupted access for rescue and ambulance services must be ensured.

IG Sindh Javed Alam Odho ordered police officials to immediately reach the accident site and secure the surrounding area. Due to oil leakage from the tanker, authorities were instructed to coordinate with relevant departments to take precautionary safety measures and prevent further risks.
Traffic was diverted to alternative routes to avoid congestion.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah also expressed deep grief over the loss of lives.
He directed authorities to complete legal formalities quickly and hand over the bodies to families without delay. The Chief Minister ordered a full investigation into the causes of the accident and stated that action will be taken against those found responsible.
