The Gul Plaza fire not only caused massive property damage but also shook the economic foundation of small traders who relied entirely on the commercial centre for their income.

Many shop owners lost everything overnight, just weeks ahead of Ramazan, a critical period for retail businesses in the city.

The company said the initiative was meant to help traders re-establish their presence online and reconnect with customers during this difficult period.

Similarly, Shopify agency Mean3 offered free website development services to Gul Plaza shop owners. By helping businesses move online, the initiative aims to provide traders with an alternative sales channel while physical shops remain unavailable.

To address the urgent need for physical retail space, Dolmen Mall announced that it would provide shop space to Gul Plaza retailers. This move will allow affected traders to resume operations, maintain customer engagement, and generate income during the recovery phase.

Atrium Mall also extended support by offering free exhibition stalls to Gul Plaza retailers. Mall management invited affected shop owners to contact their office to avail themselves of this opportunity.

Meanwhile, local brand Tawakkal offered free promotional shoutouts on its platforms to businesses affected by the fire. The brand encouraged the public to tag impacted traders so they could be highlighted and supported.

The tragedy also affected students and families dependent on Gul Plaza businesses. Recognising this, D Raju’s announced 100 percent scholarships for students directly impacted by the incident.

The Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School also declared full fee concessions for students whose parents were affected, ensuring that education continues without additional financial burden.

The collective response to the Gul Plaza fire reflects Karachi’s resilience and strong community spirit.

From free digital services and retail space to scholarships and promotional support, the city has come together to help victims recover and rebuild after one of the worst commercial fire tragedies in its history.
