Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik has announced his retirement from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), ending a decade-long journey in the country’s premier T20 competition.

The 43-year-old shared the news ahead of PSL Season 11 through a post on his social media accounts, reflecting on his long association with the league and expressing gratitude for the memories he made over the years.

“I cherish every single moment and friendship I have made on and off the field throughout my 10 years of the Pakistan Super League as a player. It’s time to call it a day,” Malik wrote.

The former Pakistan captain also hinted at continuing his involvement in cricket in a different capacity, adding, “However, my passion and motivation to serve for the betterment of cricket will always stay. Thank you PSL.”

Over his 10-year PSL career, Malik played 93 matches for four different franchises — Quetta Gladiators, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, and Multan Sultans.

With the bat, he scored 2,350 runs at an average of 33.09 and a strike rate of 127.78, including 15 half-centuries.

With the ball, Malik contributed 17 wickets at an economy rate of 7.14, proving his value as a genuine all-rounder for his teams.

His retirement comes as the PSL prepares to enter a new era with the addition of two new teams, Hyderabad and Sialkot, acquired earlier this month by FKS Group and OZ Developers.

The announcement of the Sialkot franchise has sparked excitement among fans, linking it with the iconic Sialkot Stallions, the most successful team in Pakistan’s domestic T20 history, which Malik once captained.

The 11th edition of the PSL is scheduled from March 26 to May 3, with eight teams competing.
