Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has issued a fresh alert regarding gas supply management in Karachi, announcing a temporary suspension of gas to industrial consumers.

In an official statement released on Friday, SSGC spokesperson Salman Ahmed Siddiqui said the company is continuously working to stabilize and improve gas pressure as demand rises sharply in winter.

He explained that due to increased domestic usage, management has once again decided to prioritize household and commercial consumers.

According to the notification, gas supply to all industrial consumers, including captive power plants, and all CNG stations – both natural gas and RLNG-based – will remain suspended for 48 hours, starting from 8:00 am on Saturday, January 17, until 8:00 am on Monday, January 19.

SSGC said the temporary suspension is a necessary step to manage the supply-demand gap and maintain stable pressure for homes and businesses across Karachi.

The company stressed that this decision is part of its seasonal gas load management strategy, which is implemented every winter.

The spokesperson further clarified that domestic and commercial consumers will continue to face routine gas load management, under which gas supply remains suspended daily from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am.

This schedule will continue as usual during the winter months.

To address public concerns, SSGC urged domestic customers to report any gas pressure issues during the suspension period.

Consumers can lodge complaints through the company’s 24-hour helpline 1199, where dedicated staff have been instructed to respond promptly and resolve issues on priority.

SSGC also requested the public and media to share accurate information about the gas supply plan. The company noted that similar decisions in the past were misrepresented on social media, causing unnecessary anxiety among domestic consumers.
