Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched a major new travel initiative by partnering with rail networks in Canada and the United Kingdom, allowing passengers to travel by air and train on a single ticket.
The airline formally unveiled its Air–Rail (Air-to-Rail) service, aimed at providing seamless onward connectivity beyond major international airports.
According to a PIA spokesperson, passengers flying with PIA to Toronto will now be able to continue their journey by train to eight major cities across Canada without the need to purchase a separate rail ticket.
The air–rail integration allows travelers to book their complete journey under one itinerary, ensuring better coordination between flight arrivals and train departures.

Similarly, PIA passengers arriving in the United Kingdom will benefit from expanded rail access. Travelers landing in London or Manchester can connect to rail services serving more than 50 cities across the UK.
This includes major urban centers as well as regional destinations, significantly widening PIA’s effective network in the country.
The airline said the integrated ticketing system is designed to reduce travel hassle, cut down transit delays, and simplify the booking process.
Instead of managing multiple tickets and schedules, passengers can now rely on a single booking that covers both air and rail segments of their journey.

PIA confirmed that combined air–rail tickets are available through all official channels, including PIA booking offices, registered travel agents, the airline’s website, and its mobile application.
The service is expected to benefit overseas Pakistanis, tourists, students, and business travelers who frequently travel beyond major gateway cities.
PIA Employees To Get These Facilities After Retirement
In another development, PIA has introduced a welfare-focused initiative for its retired employees. The airline has partnered with the State Life Insurance Company (SLIC) to provide healthcare coverage to retirees.
Under the arrangement, eligible retired staff will have access to hospitalization and laboratory services at hospitals and labs included in SLIC’s approved panel.

PIA management said SLIC has issued written guidelines to all panel hospitals and laboratories to ensure smooth implementation.
The airline assured retired employees that the coverage includes comprehensive laboratory services across the authorized network.
Both initiatives reflect PIA’s efforts to improve passenger services and employee welfare while strengthening its operational footprint internationally.
