The Sindh government has announced that all schools across the province will remain closed on January 17.
According to the official notification, the closure is in observance of the religious occasion of Shab-e-Mairaj (27th Rajab-1447).
The notification was issued by the School Education & Literacy Department on January 13.

The holiday applies to all public and private educational institutions under the department’s control. The decision was formalized during a Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education.
The official notification has been circulated to all relevant authorities for immediate action.
This includes the offices of the Governor, Chief Minister, and Chief Secretary of Sindh. Directors of school education across the province are responsible for informing all institutions.

Earlier this week, the Sindh government has changed school timings in Karachi and other parts of the province as a cold wave continues to affect daily life, especially for young students.
The Sindh Education Department announced that all public and private schools will now open at 9am, while closing timings will remain unchanged.
According to an official notification issued on Saturday, the revised timings will take effect from Monday, January 12, and will remain in place until January 26.

The decision was taken due to the ongoing severe cold wave in different parts of Sindh.
The Education Department said the move was made on the instructions of Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah.
