Karachi is facing a severe cold wave as icy winds lower temperatures, with the cold wave in Karachi expected to intensify during coming days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast.
Officials said cold winds blowing from Balochistan have increased chill levels across the city, pushing residents to experience unusually cold mornings and nights during the ongoing winter spell.

The Meteorological Department reported the current temperature at 11°C, while the maximum temperature today is likely to remain between 22 and 24°C.
Weather experts said the minimum temperature in Karachi may drop to 9°C on Friday night, with chances of mercury falling into single digits during Saturday and Sunday nights as well.
According to official data, northeast winds are blowing at a speed of 11 kilometers per hour, while humidity levels in the air have been recorded at 44 percent.

Authorities advised residents to take precautionary measures, especially during early morning and late night hours, as dry and cold conditions are expected to persist.
The cold spell is not limited to Karachi, as severe cold conditions have been reported from upper regions of the country down to plains.
In Hunza, temperatures plunged to -21°C, making it one of the coldest locations, while Astore recorded a minimum of -19°C.

Similarly, Chilas experienced intense cold with the mercury falling to -11°C, according to weather officials monitoring the northern mountainous regions.
The Meteorological Department said cold and dry weather is likely to continue across plains of Punjab, Upper Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan.
