The Sindh government has decided to take urgent steps to provide safe accommodation to residents affected by demolished and dangerous buildings in Karachi, senior minister Sharjeel Inam Memon confirmed.

Speaking about the decision, Sharjeel Inam Memon said the government has given top priority to vacating and demolishing buildings declared unsafe to prevent further loss of life.

He stated that all buildings which have already been vacated will now be demolished, while ensuring proper rehabilitation arrangements for the displaced residents.

According to Sharjeel Inam Memon, assistant commissioners have completed surveys of 471 out of 588 buildings identified extremely dangerous across Karachi.

He said the government has prioritized accommodation for families displaced from 59 buildings that have already been vacated due to severe structural risks.

As part of the rehabilitation plan, the Sindh government has decided to construct flats specifically for the affected families to provide them with permanent and safe housing.
