The Sindh government has launched a new scooter riding training programme for women, calling it another major step toward women’s empowerment and safer mobility across the province.

Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the training has already started in Karachi’s Korangi, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and Malir areas.

He added that working women who have applied for the Pink Scooty scheme in all districts of Karachi will be specially encouraged.

Sharjeel Inam Memon announced that scooter training in Hyderabad will begin on December 18.

He said the sessions will be held at Niaz Stadium from 10 am to 6 pm, where women will receive practical training focused on safe riding.

He further said that the programme will soon be expanded to other cities of Sindh, including Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad, and Mirpurkhas.

“The scooter riding training is being provided to ensure safe riding,” Sharjeel Inam Memon said.

He explained that the main aim of the scheme is to promote safe and easy transportation for women.

“Empowering women is among the top priorities of the Sindh government,” he said, adding that women’s independence is not limited to financial strength but is also closely linked to social freedom.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stressed that women cannot be truly empowered without providing them with safe travel facilities.

He described the scooter training programme as an important step toward confidence, self-reliance, and practical freedom for women.
