Karachi residents are advised to conserve water as K-Electric’s annual maintenance at the Valika Grid Station will temporarily affect the Hub Pumping Station, reducing the city’s water supply.
A spokesperson for the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) confirmed that K-Electric has scheduled maintenance on Sunday, December 14, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., during which the Hub Pumping Station will remain fully offline.

Officials said the shutdown will cut approximately 40 million gallons from the daily water supply, mainly impacting areas of West Karachi and Sher Shah.
Normally, the city receives around 650 million gallons daily, but residents can expect about 450 million gallons to continue flowing during the maintenance period.
KW&SC authorities urged citizens to use water judiciously, avoid wastage, and plan household usage carefully until the Hub Pumping Station resumes normal operations.

This temporary disruption is part of K-Electric’s annual maintenance to ensure the stability and reliability of Karachi’s power network, which in turn supports uninterrupted water distribution across the city.
