Pakistan Army swimmer Bisma Khan delivered an exceptional performance in Karachi on Tuesday, securing two gold medals in the ongoing 35th National Games and strengthening her department’s position on the medal table.

Bisma impressed in both an individual race and a team event, adding two major wins to Army’s tally as they continue to lead the competition with 46 gold medals recorded up to December 8.

Speaking after her victories, Bisma credited her success to months of effort and training.

“I study in America, and I swim there. My father is a coach. I have used 50, 100, 200 bags and a relay. It was good. It’s quite hot,” she said during an interview.

“I was preparing for this event for a long time. I wasn’t sure if I would make it to the National Games or not. Preparation goes on all around the year round. So, I was invited by the team,” she added.

The young swimmer added that she will participate in three more races over the next two days and remains confident about achieving another milestone.

“I have 50 free bags and 100 bags for tomorrow’s event. I have 200 bags for the third day,” Bisma said.

“I am hopeful [to make a record]. I have high hopes. Let’s see what happens,” she concluded.

According to the latest standings, Pakistan Army remain firmly at the top with 46 golds, followed by WAPDA with 14 and Pakistan Navy with seven.

The National Games will continue in Karachi until December 13, concluding with a grand closing ceremony at the National Bank Stadium, where Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is expected to attend.
