A first-grade student narrowly escaped a tragic accident after falling into an open drain near her school while returning home in Karachi’s Manghopir area.
According to local media reports, the young girl was walking home from school when she unexpectedly slipped into an uncovered manhole.

The incident caused panic among nearby children, who immediately began crying for help.
A plainclothes officer passing by heard the commotion and quickly intervened, pulling the child out of the drain. Fortunately, the water flow inside the manhole was minimal, and the girl remained unharmed.
Following the incident, the school administration stated that none of the manholes near the school have covers, despite multiple complaints lodged with Union Council officials.

The administration has urged local authorities to take immediate action, warning that negligence could lead to a serious tragedy in the future.
It is worth noting here that a heart-wrenching incident that has sparked widespread outrage across Pakistan’s largest city earlier this week, when a three-year-old Ibrahim Nabeel fell into an open manhole, and his body was recovered from a sewage drain nearly 15 hours later near NIPA Chowrangi in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.

The tragedy occurred around 10 PM on Sunday when Ibrahim, the only child of his parents, Nabeel and his wife, was on a routine shopping trip to a departmental store adjacent to the NIPA flyover when the tragedy struck.
