Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), extended his congratulations to the nation on Field Marshal Asim Munir’s appointment as the chief of Pakistan’s defense forces and condemned the “toxic propaganda” against the Pakistan Army propagated by a “mentally ill person” and his associates.
During a press conference in Rawalpindi, the DG ISPR announced the official operational status of the Chief of Defence Forces Headquarters, marking a significant milestone for the nation.
He highlighted that the nature of warfare has evolved, and the establishment of this headquarters is designed to enhance effectiveness in contemporary conflicts. Furthermore, he declared an end to political maneuvering, insisting there should be no doubts about this declaration.
DG ISPR pointed out that certain ‘individuals’ have fostered an alarmist view, suggesting that the country cannot function without them.
He remarked that the narrative of “politics is over” endangers national security, and he made it clear that such notions will not be tolerated.
We do not represent any political ideology, says DG ISPR
Stressing that the Pakistan Armed Forces are non-partisan, he said, “We are the Armed Forces of Pakistan. We do not represent any region, ethnicity, religious leaning, political ideology, or school of thought.”
He underlined that the military operates independently of any political agenda and warned that attacks on the army for personal gain will be met with consequences. “Keep politics away from the Pakistan Army,” he asserted.
He further expressed respect for all political factions across Pakistan while highlighting that no one should seek to create a divide between the army and the populace.
No narrative that threatens national security will be allowed: DG ISPR
In an implicit critique of a political figure he did not name, DG ISPR remarked that discussions with ‘this person’ lead to a disregard for the Constitution, law, and established protocols.
He insisted that the time has come to counteract harmful rhetoric. He questioned the legality and political justification of narratives that threaten national security.
“Which clause of the Constitution, which law, and which political tradition permits such actions? Which political ideology allows the creation of a narrative that undermines the security and defence forces?,” Sharif questioned.
He firmly stated that any ideology undermining state security or military integrity will face zero tolerance. “His politics is over,” he reiterated, adding that while freedom of expression is a constitutional right, it cannot be exploited to compromise national security.
Addressing recent developments, he noted that a “mentally unstable individual” made incendiary comments that compelled the army to respond publicly. He claimed that Indian media was a primary ally of this person and urged the public to consider the underlying agenda of such narratives.
‘Indian media is their primary supporter’
DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that a tweet posted two days ago by a ‘mentally unstable individual’ has escalated matters to the extent that the Pakistan Army now feels compelled to respond publicly.
He recounted previous propaganda efforts that called for a halt to Pakistan’s remittances, indicating that this individual even called for targeting the military leadership, which he described as the backbone in the fight against terrorism.
“Who wants to attack the army, which serves as a protector against the Khawarij?” he asked.
DG ISPR highlighted that this harmful rhetoric often originates from within the individual’s own party and is then amplified through Indian and Afghan social media platforms, expressing concern that even members of that party are unaware of who orchestrates this campaign.
“There is an account running this propaganda, and even their own party does not know who operates it,” he added.
