The authorities have introduced Karachi’s first dedicated ambulance lane in Saddar, one of the city’s most congested areas where ambulances frequently get stuck in traffic, following the removal of long-standing encroachments.

Deputy Commissioner of Karachi’s District South, Javed Khoso, confirmed that an operation was conducted on Manfield Street, where teams removed obstacles blocking the road.

The operation was supervised to ensure coordinated work with multiple civic departments.

Officials stated that the newly cleared space allowed the administration to establish a special ambulance lane designed specifically for emergency access. The lane aims to cut travel delays during critical medical situations.

Deputy Commissioner Khoso stated that ensuring immediate emergency access is a top priority for the district administration. Protecting lives requires efficiency, and this dedicated route is intended to reduce response time.

Authorities stressed that Saddar is a high-traffic commercial area where ambulances frequently face blockages. The creation of the lane is expected to significantly improve emergency vehicle movement during peak hours.
