Officials from the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Company Limited (PIDCL) met Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Friday and briefed him on updated project details.
The meeting addressed concerns raised by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), which had earlier halted work due to procedural disagreements.
The revised design includes a 1.8-kilometer stretch from Numaish Chowrangi to Municipal Park. Under the new plan, three additional bus stations will be built, increasing passenger access along the busy transport corridor and improving route connectivity across central Karachi.

Work on the second phase was stopped in September when KMC argued that PIDCL had not obtained the necessary no-objection certificate before beginning construction.
The city administration had also questioned the federal company’s authority over Karachi projects, insisting such development falls under municipal jurisdiction.
Mayor Wahab said both sides have now reached an understanding, clearing the way for construction to restart next week. Barrister Raja Khaliq uz Zaman Ansari and the mayor will formally announce the decision during a joint press briefing.

The extension will feature a modern Traffic Signal Priority system to ensure faster bus movement and reduce travel times during peak hours, making the service more efficient for daily commuters. This upgrade is expected to significantly enhance the overall performance of the BRT network.
The first phase of the Green Line currently serves nearly 80,000 passengers every day. Transport officials expect ridership to increase sharply once the extension becomes operational, as thousands more residents will gain access to a faster and more reliable transit option.
