Karachi’s DSP Traffic Police Kashif Nadeem has issued a warning regarding seatbelt usage for vehicle passengers.
Speaking on Geo News’ program Geo Pakistan, the DSP Traffic Police emphasized that it is not only the driver but also the passenger seated beside the driver who must wear a seatbelt.
Otherwise, he will be fined for the violation.

He added that if someone violates traffic rules a second time, any fine that was not collected earlier will also be imposed.
The DSP further warned that records for vehicles from other provinces are not available with Karachi traffic authorities.
He noted that there have been multiple complaints of vehicles running with fake number plates in the city.
The DSP Karachi also said that the work to increase the number of cameras across the city upto 12,000 has started.
He also noted that currently, there is no plan to reduce the amount of fines, as they are being issued based on the violation, not on people’s ability to pay.

Last week, DSP Traffic has also stated that it is mandatory for women riding on the back of motorcycles to wear helmets.
Speaking to the GTV news channel, he said, “The life of both the man and the woman is valuable, so it is necessary for both to wear helmets.”
The e-ticketing system has started issuing fines for double-helmet violations, and these challans have begun reaching people.
