Karachi administration has intensified its crackdown on roadside encroachments as deputy commissioners continue daily actions across multiple districts of the metropolis.

Commissioner Karachi Syed Hasan Naqvi expressed his appreciation for ongoing operations and stressed the need to combat encroachment culture that has long disrupted pedestrian movement, traffic flow and public safety across major commercial areas.

Deputy Commissioner Masood Bhutto of Korangi district submitted a detailed report outlining action to address soft and hard encroachments, including sugarcane juice machines that obstruct footpaths or roads, with vendors being warned of strict penalties in future.

According to the report, vendors were instructed not to place machinery on pedestrian routes or vehicle lanes. Officials warned repeat violators could face confiscation of equipment, arrest, and legal consequences under municipal regulations.

Korangi administration officials also took measures to clear away illegal parking from footpaths, restoring pedestrian access in many busy areas. Monitoring will continue after clearance operations in order to prevent encroachments from reoccurring after clearance operations were conducted.

Officials stated that the clearance had improved traffic flow along Mir Karam Ali Talpur Road, where poles and structures had been placed along footpaths and the main route, leading to reduced vehicle circulation in that area. They added that their operation successfully restored normal vehicle circulation for better vehicle circulation in this part of the city.

According to the district report, five individuals engaging in persistent encroachment were arrested from their locality, and FIRs were filed against them for illegally occupying public pathways and disrupting traffic flow.

Arrested individuals include Shahid, son of Rustam, Abid Hussain (son of Allah Ditta), Tahir (son of Hafeez), Ikram Rasool, and Syed Shahid Ali Hammad Ali; legal proceedings are now ongoing against all.
