Karachi Traffic Police plans to implement robots in the future to issue electronic challans under Karachi’s newly introduced E-ticketing system.
DIG Traffic Peer Muhammad Shah recently made an announcement at an awareness event regarding robotic patrols that will soon become operational for issuing electronic challans in Karachi.

Shah has stated that traffic robots will commence operating soon, sharing that the initially patrolling busy areas such as Saddar and Tariq Road where traffic congestion and illegal parking have proven persistent challenges for authorities.
Signboards warning drivers not to park and two-lane traffic violations will also be installed along these key roads, providing extra reminders for motorists while the new robotic system scans for violations.

The DIG reported that each robot will move at an estimated 20 km/hr speed, automatically identifying vehicles parked illegally or violating lane discipline rules.
Once a violation is identified, the robot’s camera and tracking software will capture and transmit vehicle registration numbers to E-Tracks control centre.

An electronic challan will then be automatically generated and sent directly to the vehicle owner’s registered address or mobile phone, providing a transparent, human-free enforcement process across the city.
DIG Shah explained that robotic enforcement’s goal is to boost efficiency, transparency, and accountability in Karachi’s traffic management system while decreasing physical intervention by officers on busy roads.
