Serious flaws have been reported in the Sindh Police’s new electronic challan (e-challan) system, after an alleged innocent citizen was fined for a traffic violation he did not commit.
According to an ARY News report, the e-challan was issued to a Karachi resident for bike number plate violation at Teen Talwar, Clifton, on October 27 at 10:45 am, but the recipient claims he was at home in Scheme 33 at that time.

The citizen discovered major discrepancies between his motorcycle’s registration and the one shown in the e-challan.
The number plate image and alphanumeric code printed on the ticket reportedly belong to a different vehicle, raising serious concerns about the accuracy of the automated system.

The e-challan also added six demerit points to the citizen’s record and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
Distressed by the incident, he said, “I have never received a challan before. This false ticket has caused me mental stress and humiliation,” as reported by ARY News.

He further questioned the credibility of the new digital monitoring system, warning that such serious technical errors could undermine public trust in the government’s traffic reforms.
