E-challan system implemented in Karachi since yesterday resulted in over Rs 12.5 million worth of tickets being issued within 6 hours, as per figures released by Karachi Traffic Police.
As per the data released by the traffic police, within 6 hours of the e-challan system’s implementation in Karachi, 2,693 challans worth Rs 12.5 million had been issued to citizens.
Karachi Traffic Police recently reported issuing 2,662 challans within six hours – 419 for overspeeding and 3 for failing to drive within their lane lines.

Reports indicate that 4 challans were issued for violating stop line restrictions, 1,535 for seat belt violations, 166 for crossing red lights, and 507 for riding without wearing helmets.
Traffic police reports show that three challans were issued for driving the wrong way on one-way streets, tinted windows (4 cases), wrong parking (7 instances), using mobile phones (5 incidents), as well as 32 cases for driving in the wrong direction (5 violations for illegal parking, no parking, and wrong-way driving.

Traffic police say this system is an integral component of effective monitoring and will ensure compliance with traffic rules by citizens. They urge them to abide by them as this system continues to be improved through public participation.
