Pakistan’s Board of Investment (BOI) has been elected as the Regional Director for South Asia at the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) during the 29th World Investment Conference 2025 in Sharjah, UAE.

Federal Minister for Investment Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh represented Pakistan at the WAIPA General Assembly and reaffirmed BOI’s commitment to advancing collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing among global Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs). He highlighted Pakistan’s vision to promote sustainable investment and economic diversification across South Asia.

The World Investment Conference 2025, organized by WAIPA and the UAE Ministry of Investment, gathered global leaders from 140 countries to shape the future of investment promotion in an era of digital and economic transformation. The event underscored the critical role of international cooperation in building resilient investment ecosystems.

This Regional Directorship will enable Pakistan to strengthen its investment promotion capacity and foster deeper collaboration among WAIPA member countries. It will also help enhance foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows in the region through shared strategies and best practices.

Minister Sheikh emphasized that as a WAIPA member, Pakistan would benefit from global networking opportunities, access to research resources, and the exchange of best practices to boost investment facilitation and investor confidence. He also reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to work with WAIPA to attract sustainable and resilient investments.

On the sidelines, Trade and Investment Counsellor Ali Zeb Khan arranged meetings for the minister with the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq). These engagements aimed to deepen economic cooperation and attract further FDI to Pakistan.

The Federal Minister also met H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the chief guests of the event, along with H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of Foreign Trade. Their discussions focused on enhancing economic partnerships between Pakistan and the UAE.

The 8th Sharjah Investment Forum (SIF 2025) was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, in the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, at Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre. The event showcased Sharjah’s growing role in driving regional investment innovation and connectivity.
