Former Test cricketer Basit Ali has strongly criticized Shan Masood’s captaincy, saying that while Shan is a good batter, he is not capable of leading the Pakistan team.

Speaking on a ARY News, Basit Ali said, “Shan Masood is a good batter but not capable of becoming a captain. Let him bat and remove him from captaincy. I don’t know who these people are who are giving wrong advice to the PCB chairman.”

He went on to say that Shan does not deserve a place in the team as captain, adding that such issues are not being addressed seriously.

Basit Ali further stated, “You have drawn the series 1-1 on paper, but if you look closely, you have already lost this series. I am disappointed with the defeat.”

The former cricketer warned that Pakistan cricket will continue to decline if the board and selection committee fail to learn from their mistakes.

He remarked, “If the cricket board and selection committee still don’t open their eyes, our cricket will keep going down.”

Basit Ali also criticized the team’s planning and selection policy, saying, “They are making a fool out of the public. Those who have played cricket will not be fooled. The policy is not good.”

“In one Test, you played three openers. Kamran Ghulam performed in domestic cricket but you didn’t play him. What is Salman Agha’s role at number 7? A batter who is performing well is being sent so late,” he added.

He further added that Pakistan’s Test Championship hopes look unrealistic after the team’s recent approach.

“You won the first match and gave hope that you would play the Test Championship final. You cannot reach the final like this,” he concluded.
