The Federal Education Board (FBISE) has officially introduced a new grading formula for students, which will take effect from 2026 matriculation and first-year examinations, according to an official notification.
Under the revised system, students scoring between 96% and 100% will receive an A++ grade, while those securing 91% to 95% will be awarded A+, and 86% to 90% will receive an A grade, the board stated.
The notification further outlined that marks ranging between 81% and 85% will fall under the B++ grade, whereas 76% to 80% will be classified as B+, and 71% to 75% will receive a B grade.

Similarly, C+ and C grades will be assigned to candidates obtaining 61% to 70% and 51% to 60%, respectively. Students achieving 40% to 50% will earn a D grade, while those scoring below 40% will be marked “ungraded.”
The Federal Board clarified that students who fail to meet the passing threshold may still qualify for a re-examination, provided they fulfill the board’s other academic conditions.
Officials believe that the new grading formula aims to encourage better academic performance and align Pakistan’s evaluation standards with international educational benchmarks.
