Former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Asif has suggested a simple but specific formula for bowlers to dismiss Indian opener Abhishek Sharma, who is in record-breaking form at the Asia Cup 2025.

Asif, speaking to reporters, stated that bowling three consecutive deliveries on a good length would guarantee Abhishek’s dismissal.

He stressed that consistency was the key, advising bowlers not to alter their plan even if Sharma struck a boundary.

“Bowl at the same spot, don’t change your plan. I guarantee he will get out within three deliveries,” Asif advised, while questioning Shaheen Afridi’s approach of bowling a bouncer first up against Sharma.

Abhishek, however, remains the standout batter of the tournament.

On Saturday against Sri Lanka, he smashed a quick-fire 61 runs off 31 balls, cementing his place as the highest run-scorer in a single Asia Cup edition.

With 309 runs in six innings, the left-hander has surpassed Mohammad Rizwan’s previous record of 281 runs in the Asia Cup 2022. Virat Kohli, too, had once held the milestone with 276 runs in five innings.

Sharma’s brilliance has set up a thrilling stage for Sunday’s Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, where Pakistan will face India after defeating Bangladesh by 11 runs to secure their spot.
