The Sindh government has declared a public holiday on Wednesday, September 24, in fourteen districts across the province.
According to the details, the holiday was announced in account for local government by-elections, aiming to provide voters an opportunity to participate in the polling process.
An official notification confirmed all provincial government offices, educational institutions, and affiliated organizations in these districts will remain closed.
Authorities said the measure seeks to remove obstacles for citizens intending to cast their votes.
The districts observing the holiday include Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Matiari. Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Badin, Thatta, Karachi West, Karachi East, and Keamari are also on the list of notified areas.

Election Commission of Pakistan officials said Rangers will be deployed at polling stations categorized as “most sensitive.”
The federal interior ministry has received a formal request for paramilitary support during the vote.
According to reports, Karachi’s East, West, Keamari, and Umerkot districts face comparatively higher security concerns. Rangers’ presence will complement police duties, ensuring peace and safety throughout polling day operations in these areas.
The by-elections cover seats in various local councils left vacant due to resignations, disqualifications, or administrative changes.
Authorities stated that the completion of these polls is essential to sustain grassroots representation and efficient municipal governance.
