The fifth match between Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka of the Asia Cup 2025 is set to begin today at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, with the match toss scheduled for 06:00 PM GST.
Bangladesh, in their opening game of the Asia Cup, won the match against Hong Kong, with captain Litton Das scoring a half-century in 33 balls.
Litton Das led-squad comfortably chased down the target of 144 with the loss of three wickets in 17.4 overs against Hong Kong.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka will start their Asia Cup campaign with the opening match today against Bangladesh in Abu Dhabi.
Recently, Bangladesh has had a better run, winning 2-1 against Sri Lanka in their home condition in July 2025. They also beat Sri Lanka in last year’s T20 World Cup in Dallas.
In those games, Bangladesh’s bowlers were effective, taking early wickets and consistently finding ways to get Sri Lankan batsmen out. Sri Lanka, on the other hand, is hoping its batting will improve; however, just a couple of weeks ago, they were bowled out for just 80 runs by Zimbabwe.
Asia Cup 2025: Where to Watch Pakistan vs India live
This is a crucial match for both teams, as they are in the “group of death,” with Afghanistan also competing for a spot in the Super Four. The team that loses this game will have a tough path ahead to qualify.
Last Five Encounters:
Bangladesh comes into the match with stronger recent form, having won 4 of their last 5 completed T20 internationals.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has lost 3 of their last 5.
Pitch and conditions
The pitch in Abu Dhabi usually favors the batters, making it a good surface for scoring runs. However, it can also offer some help to slower bowlers, especially as the game goes on. The weather looks clear for Saturday, with no rain expected.
