Karachi is bracing for significant monsoon activity as yesterday’s well-marked low pressure has intensified into a depression over Southwest Rajasthan and adjoining Sindh, bringing strong monsoon currents that will affect Karachi from this evening through September 11th.
According to the weather advisory, Karachi division is likely to experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms with moderate to isolated heavy and very heavy falls during this period.
The meteorological department has warned of potential impacts, including disruption of daily routines, urban flooding, waterlogging in low-lying areas, and possible damage to weak structures, electric poles, billboards, vehicles, and solar panels.

Weather in Karachi on Tuesday (Sep 09):
Intermittent rain/wind/thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy falls. Maximum temperatures further decrease to 28-30°C. Humidity remains very high at 80-90% morning and 75-85% evening. West/southwesterly winds persist.
Sindh Flood Updates:
The irrigation department reported that Guddu barrage is experiencing medium-level flood while Sukkur and Kotri barrages are witnessing low-level floods.
The River Indus at Guddu is expected to attain very high flood levels on September 8th to 9th.
Authorities have been advised to remain on high alert and take necessary measures to prevent any untoward situations during this forecast period.
