Heavy rainfall alerts have been issued across Pakistan from 29th August to 2nd September 2025, with the highest risk of urban flooding in Karachi and several other cities.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), coastal districts including Karachi, Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tharparkar may face heavy downpours between 30th August and 2nd September, with strong chances of waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas.
Sindh:
In central and upper part of the province, districts like Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Nawabshah, Dadu, Sukkur, Ghotki, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Kashmore will experience widespread rainfall from 30th August to 1st September.
Islamabad is also forecasted to receive moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with occasional gaps from 29th August to 1st September.
Punjab:
Heavy rainfall will affect most districts. Pothohar and northeastern areas, including Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Gujrat, Narowal, Hafizabad, and Mandi Bahauddin, are likely to face urban flooding, especially on 30th and 31st August.
Central and southern Punjab, including Multan, D.G. Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Rahim Yar Khan, will have scattered heavy rainfall from 29th to 31st August.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa:
Districts such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, D.I. Khan, Tank, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and Kohat will experience moderate to heavy rain between 29th and 31st August, with isolated very heavy falls in Malakand and Hazara divisions.
Light rain is expected to continue till 2nd September.

Azad Jammu & Kashmir:
For AJ&K, including Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber, moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms is forecasted until 1st September, decreasing in intensity by 2nd September.
Gilgit:
In Gilgit-Baltistan, areas like Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Ghizer, Diamer, Astore, Ghanche, and Shigar may see low to moderate rainfall between 29th and 31st August, with light showers on 1st and 2nd September. Authorities have warned of landslides and debris flows in vulnerable valleys.
Balochistan:
Balochistan will see isolated rainfall in eastern, southeastern, and coastal districts such as Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, Kalat, Gwadar, Turbat, Kech, and Panjgur from 29th August to 1st September, with light showers continuing in Gwadar and other coastal areas on 2nd September.
Northern and central areas, including Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Loralai, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Dera Bugti, and Kohlu, will also see scattered rainfall during the same period.
Authorities have advised residents, especially in low-lying and hilly areas, to take precautionary measures to avoid damage from flooding, landslides, and road disruptions.
