Charles Goodman has officially taken over as the new Consul General of the United States in Karachi. This move highlights Washington’s commitment to building a stronger partnership with Pakistan.
Goodman is an experienced diplomat and a long-time member of the Senior Foreign Service. He has a strong background in international affairs.
Recently, he served as Management Counselor for the U.S. Mission in New Zealand and Samoa. Before that, he worked as Management Counselor and Acting Deputy Chief of Mission in Pristina, Kosovo.
His career also includes leadership roles in Latvia, Georgia, Argentina, and Lima, Peru, where he was Deputy Director of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Section.
This is not the first time Goodman came to Pakistan; back in 2011, he worked in Lahore for a year. This experience gives him firsthand knowledge of Pakistan’s cultural and social dynamics.

Before joining the US Foreign Service in 2006, Goodman spent twenty years in the private sector. He held leadership roles in financial services, real estate, and technology.
He also has an MBA from Duke University and a B.S. in Information Systems from the University of Tampa.
As Consul General in Karachi, Goodman will focus on improving US-Pakistan cooperation in economic growth, trade, security, and connections between people, particularly in Sindh and Balochistan.
He stressed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and fostering mutual understanding between Americans and Pakistanis.
In a statement, Goodman expressed his eagerness to meet key stakeholders, engage with local communities, and enjoy Pakistan’s famous hospitality and cuisine.
His leadership is expected to strengthen U.S. diplomatic efforts in the region during this important period.
