Google has officially announced the launch of the Pixel 10 series with a groundbreaking feature that supports WhatsApp voice and video calls through satellite connectivity.
The latest update, which goes into effect on August 28, 2025, provides users with a lifeline in areas where mobile networks are not available.
The Pixel 10 series – comprising the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold – was launched earlier this month with several latest AI-powered features.
However, Google kept back the details about the satellite-enabled WhatsApp calling until now, placing it as a game-changer in smartphone communication.
According to Google, the new feature will allow users to stay connected during emergencies, natural disasters, or remote travel, where other cellular network often fails.
Google clarified that this service will require assistance from mobile carriers, and users may have to pay additional charges according to the service agreements, which have yet to be announced before the service rollout.
With this development, Google has positioned the Pixel 10 as more than just a flagship phone, but as a pioneer in integrating satellite technology into mainstream consumer communication.
Earlier to this, Google released its latest System Release Notes for August 2025, highlighting a series of updates across the Android ecosystem.
These changes span Google Play services, the Play Store, and Play system updates, and apply to Android smartphones and tablets, Wear OS devices, Android Auto, Android TV, and even PCs.
While some features are already available, others are rolling out gradually or are intended for developers.
In the latest update to Google Play services (v25.32), Android phones now provide enhanced alerts related to low or full storage, making it easier for users to manage their Google Account storage directly from their device.
