Babar Azam, after consistently playing for Pakistan, will now miss his first ICC tournament, Asia Cup 2025, after he was dropped from the squad

Pakistan star batter Babar Azam has been part of every major ICC and multi-nation tournament since the ICC T20 World Cup 2016 in India.

Since his debut, Babar has consistently represented Pakistan in prestigious tournaments, including the Champions Trophy 2017, Asia Cup 2018, World Cup 2019, T20 World Cups 2021, 2022, 2024, Asia Cup 2023, and the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025.

In the Champions Trophy 2017, Babar scored 8 runs against India, remained unbeaten with 31 against South Africa, added 10 against Sri Lanka, an unbeaten 38 against England, and 46 runs in the final against India.

During the Asia Cup 2018, he made 33 against Hong Kong, 47 against India, 66 against Afghanistan, 9 in the second match against India, and 1 against Bangladesh.

In the 2019 World Cup, Babar’s form shone with 101* against New Zealand, 96 against Bangladesh, and consistent knocks like 63 against England and 69 against South Africa.

His performance in the T20 World Cup 2021 saw him score 68* against India, 51 against Afghanistan, and 70 against Namibia, proving his reliability at the top order.

However, the T20 World Cup 2022 was less impressive, where his highest score was 53 against New Zealand in the semi-final after a quiet group stage.

In the World Cup 2023, Babar hit 74 against Afghanistan, 66 against New Zealand, and a fifty against India, though Pakistan faced a tough campaign overall.

During the Asia Cup 2023, Babar smashed 151 against Nepal but managed modest scores against Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka.
