Mahnoor Cheema, an 18-year-old British-Pakistani student, has made history by completing 24 A-Level subjects with top grades, breaking four world records and securing a place at the University of Oxford to study Medicine.
Already a record-holder for her GCSE results, Mahnoor now holds six global academic records the highest ever achieved by a secondary school student. Her new records include:
- Completing the most individual A-Level subjects (24 plus an Extended Project Qualification) through a single exam board.
- Earning the highest number of A* and A grades in A-Levels (19 top grades).
- Achieving 45 A* grades combined from A-Levels and GCSEs/O Levels.
- Passing the highest total number of subjects with distinction 58 in total.
At just 16, she had already passed 34 GCSE subjects, securing 17 A* grades.
Speaking from her home in West London, Mahnoor called her Oxford admission “a dream come true” and credited her parents’ sacrifices for her success.
Born to Lahore natives Barrister Usman Cheema and Tayyaba Cheema, she moved to the UK in 2006 and studied at Langley Grammar School, Henrietta Barnett School, and later through homeschooling.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif praised her achievements.
Outside academics, Mahnoor holds a diploma in music, gold medals in Acting and Public Speaking, and is a member of Mensa.
