Items banned in hand baggage at Dubai Airports are strictly regulated to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations.
Travelers must be aware of banned goods before packing to avoid confiscation or delays at security checkpoints.
Dubai Airport cabin baggage restrictions
Dubai Airports strictly prohibits several items in cabin baggage to ensure passenger safety and compliance with security regulations. This highlights how vital it is to understand items banned in hand baggage criteria before traveling.
These banned items include hammers, nails, screwdrivers, and other sharp tools, as well as scissors with blades longer than 6 cm.
Grooming tools with components exceeding 6 cm, swords, knives, and other bladed weapons are also not allowed. Passengers are barred from carrying handcuffs, firearms, ammunition, flare guns, laser guns, and walkie-talkies, reinforcing the list of items not allowed in hand baggage.
Only one lighter is permitted per passenger, and items such as bats, martial arts weapons, drills, ropes, measuring tapes, packing tapes, and electrical cables are prohibited unless for personal travel use.
Liquids and medical items rules
- Each liquid container must be 100 ml or less, with a maximum of 10 containers (1 litre total).
- Medicines require a doctor’s prescription.
- Passengers with metal implants must carry a medical certificate.
Power bank regulations
- Allowed in cabin baggage only if under 100Wh.
- Devices between 100Wh and 160Wh may be accepted based on airline policy but cannot exceed 160Wh.
- Emirates now bans the use of power banks during flights, even within allowed capacity.
