The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been declared the world’s second most exciting franchise cricket league, according to a recent BBC report.
The BBC’s “Entertainment Index” ranked the PSL above other popular tournaments such as the ILT20, The Hundred, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL). The Indian Premier League (IPL) claimed the top spot.
According to the report, PSL’s strong balance between batting and bowling, along with nail-biting finishes, has won fans globally. The league boasts an average first innings score of 180 runs — the highest of any T20 league worldwide.
Data shows 27.5% of PSL matches were decided in the final over, compared to 28.9% in the IPL. PSL also recorded the highest average number of fours per match (30) and an average of 14 sixes per game, matching CPL and IPL in six-hitting excitement.
The BBC highlighted that PSL players have an average of 351 international caps, making it one of the most experienced player pools in global franchise cricket — second only to ILT20 (423 caps) and ahead of IPL (335 caps).
In five key “Entertainment Index” metrics, PSL scored the second-highest globally, reflecting its consistent quality, competitiveness, and star power. The league continues to attract leading international cricketers, further boosting its reputation as one of the premier T20 competitions.
