The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has provisionally suspended cricketer Haider Ali after learning that he is the subject of a criminal investigation by Greater Manchester Police in the United Kingdom (UK).

The case reportedly relates to an incident that occurred during the Pakistan Shaheens’ recent tour of England, though specific details have not been made public by either the police or the PCB.

In a statement, the board confirmed it has provided Haider Ali with legal assistance to ensure that his rights are protected as the UK investigation continues.

“The PCB fully respects the legal procedures and processes of the United Kingdom,” the statement said. “We believe in allowing the investigation to take its due course.”

As a precautionary step, the board has placed Haider Ali under provisional suspension, which takes effect immediately. This means he will not be allowed to participate in any cricket-related activities pending the outcome.

The PCB noted that it will wait for the legal process to conclude before deciding whether any further disciplinary action under its Code of Conduct is warranted.

“We will not offer further comment until the legal matter is resolved,” the board added, citing respect for the ongoing police investigation.

The development comes as a major setback for Haider Ali, a rising talent in Pakistani cricket who has previously represented the national team in T20 and ODI formats.
