Pakistan is renowned for its fifth-largest date-production in the world, with vast date orchards spread across all four provinces.
According to a report by the state news agency Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), experts from the Date Palm Research Institute revealed that Pakistan produces around 500,000 tons of dates annually.
The country has approximately 82,000 hectares of land under date cultivation. Sindh leads in production with 252,300 tons, followed by Balochistan with 192,800 tons.

Punjab contributes 42,600 tons, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa produces around 8,900 tons.
Pakistan is home to over 150 varieties of dates, with more than 130 found in Makran Division alone. Despite its rich production, the country’s date exports remain limited.
Currently, Pakistan exports dates to 23 international markets, including India, USA, UK, Germany, Canada, and Nepal. India remains the largest importer of Pakistani dates.
Experts suggest that increasing exports could help Pakistan earn valuable foreign exchange, gain access to new markets, and contribute to economic stability.
