The unusual sight of pink-colored water at Gadani Jetty has raised numerous questions and sparked widespread curiosity.

After days of investigation, authorities have finally released a detailed report shedding light on the mystery.

An unusual pink water incident at Gadani Jetty has been explained by Balochistan’s Environmental Protection Department. The pink color was caused by natural microbial changes in stagnant seawater.

Deputy Director Imran Saeed Kakar said the water in the jetty had not moved for a long time, allowing microscopic organisms to grow and change its color.

Experts say the color shift is mainly due to halophilic bacteria and salt-tolerant microorganisms. These thrive in salty, still water and produce pink or reddish pigments.

These bacteria are not just responsible for the water’s appearance; they may also create environmental or health risks if contact occurs over time.

The Environmental Protection Department launched an investigation after residents and fishermen reported strange discoloration along the Gadani coast earlier this month.

Samples were collected and analyzed to determine whether the change was due to pollution or a natural process. The results confirmed it was a microbial bloom.

Such occurrences are rare in Pakistan’s coastal waters but have been recorded in other parts of the world with similar environmental conditions.

Officials clarified that the situation is not linked to industrial waste or oil spills. No toxic chemicals were detected in the water sample analysis.

However, they advised people to avoid swimming or fishing in the area until further assessments are completed to ensure full safety.

Local authorities have begun monitoring nearby jetties and salt zones for any signs of similar bacterial activity or color changes in the water bodies.

Environmentalists believe better water circulation and routine inspection can prevent such incidents and reduce long-term ecological impacts on marine life and coastal health.

The pink color is expected to fade naturally over time, especially if tides increase or rain helps move the stagnant water.
