A scheduled nine-hour power shutdown will affect water supply to several areas of Karachi on Monday, August 4, due to essential maintenance work at the Dhabeji substation and other grid stations under the Bin Qasim Cluster.
According to the spokesperson of Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), power will be suspended from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, impacting water supply to areas including Landhi, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Bin Qasim, DHA, and North Nazimabad.
The shutdown will partially affect the Dhabeji pumping station, one of the city’s main water distribution hubs.

The Karachi Water Corporation has warned that the electricity disruption may lead to a temporary reduction of up to 100 million gallons in the water supply.
Karachi currently receives about 650 million gallons daily, but officials say that efforts will be made to maintain 550 million gallons during the shutdown to minimize inconvenience.
“This temporary suspension is based on a formal request from K-Electric’s Deputy General Manager for Grid System Operations,” said the Water Corporation spokesperson, emphasizing that the goal is to improve long-term infrastructure reliability.
Citizens are urged to use water wisely, avoid wastage, and cooperate during the shutdown period. Authorities have assured that water operations will be restored immediately once the power is restored.
