The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Board of Directors has decided to ban the use of Pakistan’s name in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
According to the report published by Geo News, Pakistan’s name can no longer be used in any cricket league without PCB’s permission. Getting official approval from PCB is now mandatory to use the name.
The Pakistan Champions team currently playing in England will be allowed to play the final.

Noting that the situation intensified when India forfeited the semi-final match against Pakistan in the WCL 2025. The match was scheduled in England, but India pulled out, citing political reasons and internal board decisions. This unexpected move stirred strong reactions from fans and former cricketers across both nations.
PCB officials viewed India’s forfeit as a breach of sportsmanship and global cricket unity. However, the decision further justified PCB’s earlier stance on protecting Pakistan’s name and image. The board emphasized that national identity in sports must be respected and not be used for commercial or political gains without proper authorization.
