In a bid to improve water supply in Central District Karachi, the Karachi Water Corporation has revised the operational hours of two key water hydrants – Nipa and Safoora.
The decision was made following a successful trial run aimed at enhancing water availability in residential areas.
According to the official notification, both hydrants will now remain closed daily from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon, with the new timings coming into immediate effect.
Previously, the closure hours were scattered – from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 am – which reportedly caused irregularities in water distribution.

The Hydrant Cell in-charge stated that the change in timings was implemented after observing positive outcomes during a two to three-day trial period.
The revised schedule is expected to provide relief to residents by ensuring a more balanced and efficient water supply in Central District areas.
In-charge Muhammad Siddique Tanio noted that initial results have already shown improvement in water distribution, encouraging the department to officially enforce the new hours.
Instructions have also been issued to hydrant in-charges to strictly follow the new schedule to maintain consistency and avoid misuse.
